Psalm 27
Whose presence do you seek?
With the Lord on our side, why should we be afraid? Our enemies will ultimately stumble and fall because the Lord will protect us because we are His children.
Look at verse 4: One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.
· What one thing did David ask of the LORD?
o To dwell with Him
§ By dwelling with the Lord here in the land of the living, he would gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and would be able to seek His face in the Temple.
David was truly a worshiper of the Lord! Verse 8 tells us of the groaning of His heart. His heart told him “seek the Lord”.
He desired to be the Lord’s presence. He knew there in His presence was protection, healing, comfort, joy, and ultimately blessing.
Verse 11 is such a great “life verse” from this passage: Teach me your way, O Lord; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors.
David didn’t desire to glorify himself. Instead he wanted to please the Lord. He wanted to walk the straight path the leads to God’s presence.
