12 Many bulls surround me;

strong bulls of Bashan encircle me.

13 Roaring lions tearing their prey

open their mouths wide against me.

14 I am poured out like water,

and all my bones are out of joint.

My heart has turned to wax;

it has melted away within me.

15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd,

and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth;

you lay me b in the dust of death.

16 Dogs have surrounded me;

a band of evil men has encircled me,

they have pierced c my hands and my feet.

17 I can count all my bones;

people stare and gloat over me.

18 They divide my garments among them

and cast lots for my clothing.

19 But you, O Lord, be not far off;

O my Strength, come quickly to help me.

20 Deliver my life from the sword,

my precious life from the power of the dogs.

21 Rescue me from the mouth of the lions;

save d me from the horns of the wild oxen.

Feeling Condemned (verse 12-21)

· Here, David is describing his enemies as animals (verse 12-13)

· It is amazing how David described the crucifixion so well considering this was NOT a Jewish method of capital punishment and most likely, David had NEVER even seen a crucifixion, yet we see, prophetically, David described what happened to Jesus:

John 19:23-24, NIV

23 When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his clothes, dividing them into four shares, one for each of them, with the undergarment remaining. This garment was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom.

24 “Let’s not tear it,” they said to one another. “Let’s decide by lot who will get it.”

This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled which said,

“They divided my garments among them

and cast lots for my clothing.” a

So this is what the soldiers did.

“Man of Sorrows What a Name”

Words and Music by David Delgado and Philip Bliss

Verse 1

Man of Sorrows what a name

For the Son of God who came

Ruined sinners to reclaim

Hallelujah what a name

Bearing shame and scoffing rude

In my place condemned He stood

Sealed my pardon with His blood

Hallelujah what a name

Verse 2

Lifted up He was to die

It is finished was His cry

Now in heaven exalted high

Hallelujah what a name

When He comes

My glorious King

All His ransomed home to bring

Then a new song will I sing

Hallelujah what a name

Hallelujah what a name

Chorus

No other name but the name of Jesus

No other help I know

No other name but the name of Jesus

Hallelujah what a name

Hallelujah what a name
